Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed concern about the ongoing economic sabotage that has weakened investor confidence in the petroleum sector, stating that the Senate must identify and hold those responsible accountable for the illegal crimes.
Akpabio made the statement on Monday at the formation of a Senate ad hoc committee to probe alleged sabotage in the industry.
At the inauguration, the Senate President declared that it is more than just an investigation, but a rescue mission for the country’s future. He stated that it is an issue of national security and sovereignty, and that if not addressed, it might cripple the economy for future generations.
Senator Akpabio then urged committee members to work with appropriate agencies, industry experts, and stakeholders to identify the fundamental reasons of the economic sabotage, leaving no stone untouched.
