Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dismissed his Special Assistant on Forestry (Central Senatorial District), Adeboye Ewenla, following allegations of bribery.
The dismissal was announced on Wednesday in a statement by Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, who confirmed that Ewenla’s removal took effect immediately after accusations surfaced from timber traders in the state.
Aiyedatiwa also ordered an investigation into the management of the state’s forest reserves to address concerns over corruption and ensure transparency in forestry activities. The governor emphasized the need for all political appointees to act in accordance with the law, stating that a replacement for Ewenla would be announced soon.
In response, Ewenla denied the bribery allegations, claiming they were part of a plot to tarnish his reputation. He stated that his efforts to prevent illegal activities in the forest reserves made him a target. Ewenla clarified that the funds in question were government fees for operating in the reserves and were not linked to any personal financial gain.
