A female marketing employee of a bank in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has taken her own life.

Amarachi Ugochukwu, a 32-year-old female marketing employee of a bank in Ikorodu, Lagos State, reportedly took her own life by ingesting an insecticide.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday within the bank premises. Ugochukwu entered the restroom around 1 pm and consumed the insecticide without the knowledge of her colleagues.

Concerns arose among the staff when her phone, left on her desk, repeatedly rang unanswered, prompting a search for her.

Subsequently, Ugochukwu was discovered lifeless in the restroom with the insecticide bottle, along with a suicide note.

A police source confirmed to newsmen that the note cited the harsh economic conditions as the reason for her decision to end her life, expressing frustration with the difficulties she faced.

“Nothing is working in my life. My figures are low. My brain is clogged up. The economy is getting harder. My decisions are wrong. My mind is messed up. The future doesn’t seem bright at all. I see extreme hardship. I can’t bear the pain anymore,” she wrote in the suicide note.

Ugochukwu apologised to her parents and other members of her family in the suicide note.

“I’m sorry mum, I’m sorry dad, I’m sorry Nene, Okwe, Toto, Nazor, Chuchu, Ifunanya,” she added.

She concluded by writing, “Dear Lord, have mercy on me!”

According to reports, the bank manager reported the incident to the police.

According to the manager, Ugochukwu locked herself in the toilet to carry out the act, and she was discovered lifeless after the door was forcibly opened.
