Sanusi appoints new ward head amid emirate crisis

In the midst of a dilemma regarding who the real emir of Kano is, the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, nominated Hamisu Sani as the new Ward Head of Kofar Mazugal in Dala Local Government Area on Thursday.

It is the first appointment made by the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor since his reinstatement in the face of objections from Kano’s dethroned 15th emir, Aminu Bayero.

Emir Sanusi urged the new Ward Head to maintain peaceful coexistence among the area’s subjects while also contributing his fair share to the state’s overall growth.

As Sanusi consolidate his hold on the throne, district heads and personalities such as delegations from religious and market bodies have been paying homage at the palace to pay allegiance.

The delegation includes Ansarulddeen Tijjanniya sect and traders from Kano popular textile market (Kantin Kwari) as well as the commodities market (Singer market) among others.

Sanusi was reinstalled as the 16th Emir of Kano last Thursday and given letter of reappointment after the State Assembly and Governor Abba Yusuf repealed and assented to the Kano State Emirates Councils (Repealed) Bill 2024 into law.

Shortly after, the dethroned emir, Bayero, returned to the state to reclaim his position leading to a stalemate that would be decided by the court.
