Armed security operatives imposed a lockdown on the Kano Emir’s Palace at Kofar Kudu early Friday morning, restricting all entry and exit.

The Kano Emir’s Palace has been heavily guarded by armed security personnel. This increased security measure is in place as Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II prepares to accompany Alhaji Munir Sanusi, the newly appointed Wamban Kano, to his new district in Bichi.

Bichi, one of the four emirates established by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, has since been dissolved by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The Bichi Emir’s Palace is also under heavy security, with armed police deployed to the area. The reasons behind the heightened security presence in both locations remain unclear at this time.

According to sources, Efforts to reach the Kano State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, were unsuccessful as his phone was unreachable

Many traditional rulers and title holders were stranded at the Kano Emir’s Palace after armed personnel secured the premises.

PUNCH Online reported that many stranded traditional rulers were forced to leave their vehicles inside the palace and walk to the central mosque for Friday prayers.

As of press time, security operatives remain stationed at the palace, restricting human and vehicular movement.

A palace source confirmed that the Emir is still within the palace, while most visitors have left to attend Friday prayers.
