Security operatives rescue three abducted victims, neutralize eight bandits in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command, working together with the local hunters’ group, has successfully rescued three individuals who were kidnapped and eliminated eight bandits.

This information was provided in a press release by Ahmed Wakil, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Bauchi State Command.

“The operation was carried out on 22nd April 2024, following credible information received by the command regarding suspicious activities near the state border between Bauchi and Plateau states,” he said.

In a detailed update, Wakili reported that Bauchi State Police detectives from the Gumau, Tilde, and Tulu divisions encountered armed bandits during a routine patrol near the state border between Bauchi and Plateau States. During this encounter, which escalated into a firefight in self-defense, four suspected kidnappers were neutralized. Two of these suspects, before succumbing to their injuries, confessed to several kidnappings and the high-profile murder of a village head in Ruruwai village, Lame district, Toro LGA, Bauchi State, on March 17, 2024.

Following leads from the dying suspects, the detectives quickly raided the kidnappers’ hideout, rescuing three individuals from Dokayel village who had been held since April 20, 2024. The operation continued with another exchange of gunfire, resulting in four additional kidnappers being neutralized while the three hostages were safely liberated without any ransom payment.

The press release also noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, praised the bravery and professionalism of the officers and personnel involved in the operation. He encouraged them to persist in their efforts to uphold law and order and appealed to the public to support and cooperate with the police by providing crucial information and remaining alert.

The command reiterated its commitment to relentlessly enhancing the security landscape of the state.
