Heavy security personnel have been stationed at the PDP national headquarters in Abuja as two opposing factions, each asserting itself as the legitimate leadership, gear up to hold separate meetings within the same premises.
The Samuel Anyanwu–led NWC has already arrived at the party headquarters, with Anyanwu maintaining that he remains the national secretary until his tenure ends in December, occupying his office despite the ongoing leadership tussle.
When questioned on whether he requested the deployment of security operatives who had cordoned off key areas around the building, Anyanwu confirmed that he did so.
He clarified that it is standard procedure for the PDP to invite security personnel whenever high-level meetings are scheduled, to ensure order and prevent disruptions.
Anyanwu further noted that the security presence was meant to address any “intruders,” a comment clearly referencing the Turaki-led exco, which had also declared its intention to convene its own meeting at the Wadata Plaza headquarters.
