The Senate has officially approved the appointment of several individuals to the governing board of the North East Development Commission.
Among those confirmed is General Paul Tarfa (North East Adamawa), who is a former classmate of the ex-president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.). General Paul Tarfa has been appointed as the chairman of the commission.
The Senate conducted the screening of the nominees, and after the process was completed during the plenary session on Wednesday, their appointments were confirmed.
The President had submitted a letter to the Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio, requesting the confirmation of the nominees for their respective positions on the governing board.
The other nominees for confirmation Include Hon Gambo Maikyau member ( North East Taraba ); Abdullahi Abbas member ( North West Kano ); Zaf Steven Ondora, Member ( North Central Benue ); Chief Mutiu Lawal Areh, Member ( South Wes Lagos ).
Others are: Samuel Ifeanyi Onuigbo, Member( South East Abia); Frank Achinike Owo Member ( South South Rivers); Mohamed Goni Alkali (Managing Director North East Borno).
The rest for re-appointment are Musa Yashi, Executive Director of Humanitarian Affairs ( North East Bauchi ); Ahmed Abdulsalam Yahaya as Executive Director of Operations, (North East Gombe); and Dr Abubakar Garba Ileah, Executive Director of Administration and finance, (North East Yobe).
