Senate President Godswill Akpabio has urged lawmakers to renew their dedication to tackling Nigeria’s challenges, prioritising national development and legislative reforms.
Addressing the Senate on Tuesday during its first plenary session of the year, Akpabio called for a united effort to transform Nigeria into a nation of progress and hope.
In his speech, titled Rising to the Greatness of Our Calling, he said, “Let us begin this legislative year with a commitment to serve our great nation with renewed vigour and purpose.”
Akpabio highlighted the national budget’s significance, describing it as a blueprint for Nigeria’s aspirations. “Every item in the budget must drive equity, justice, and development,” he emphasised.
The Senate President also stressed the need to complete electoral reforms before the next election cycle, calling it both a legislative and moral obligation essential for democratic stability.
Akpabio concluded by encouraging senators to work towards shaping a future of progress and justice, leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.
