The Senate will look into the detention of over 250 Nigerians in Ethiopia.
The Upper Chamber agreed to look into the issue after Minority Leader Senator Simon Mwadkwon brought it to the attention of his colleagues during Wednesday’s plenary session.
As a result, the Senate urged its Diaspora and Foreign Affairs Committees to engage with the Federal Government to quickly form a team to visit the Republic of Ethiopia and investigate what is happening to Nigerians there.
Senator Abdul Ningi, a Federal Lawmaker who participated in the debate, stated that the Upper Chamber must probe the topic to determine the genuine circumstances regarding the jailed Nigerians in Ethiopia.
