Senator Ahmed Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West, has resigned from the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

He announced his decision in a letter to the SDP Chairman in Tudun Ward, Keffi Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.

The letter, titled “Notification of resignation from the Social Democratic Party (SDP)”, stated:

“I write to inform you of my decision to resign as a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), with immediate effect. This decision has not been taken lightly, but the persistent internal crisis within our party compels me to act. These conflicts have caused serious divisions and legal disputes.

I remain grateful for the opportunities, experiences, and relationships gained during my membership. However, it is time for me to move on and explore new paths.”

Wadada’s exit follows his recent remarks in support of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. After a visit to the State House, he dismissed suggestions that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could produce a leader capable of surpassing Tinubu’s achievements.

He also hinted at a possible return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), recalling his earlier roles as a national officer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before moving to the APC and later the SDP.

Wadada emphasised that his resignation was not out of personal grievances with the SDP, but rather a reflection of what he described as “the dynamism of life.”
