Seven important things to know as FG commences repair of Third Mainland Bridge

The Federal Government stated on Wednesday, through the Ministry of Works, that two ramps of the Third Mainland Bridge will be closed for repairs.

According to a statement issued by the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Engr. (Mrs.) O. I. Kesha, “the motoring public are hereby notified that the repair works will commence with the ramps connecting Oworoshoki to Adekunle and Lagos-Island (Adeniji Adele) to Adekunle concurrently.”

Keisha reported that the ramps will be closed to traffic beginning 7 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023 for a period of five weeks.

She urged vehicles to cooperate with traffic officials by obeying and observing any traffic diversions as requested, and she encouraged them to take the alternate routes provided.

Seven important things to note as the repair works commences

The reason for the maintenance is because the bridge is old.
The bridge will NOT be totally closed.
The repairs will start on November 1, 2023.
The repairs will last for three months.
The bridge will be closed by midnight and will be opened by 4am.
Road users will have access to the bridge from 4am till midnight.
Replacement of railings, installation of solar-powered lights, and installation of CCTV cameras are all part of road maintenance plans.
