The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), reported that a lone accident on Friday night along the Osogbo – Gbongan highway resulted in the tragic loss of seven lives.
Sector Commander Henry Benamaisia said this in a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, Mrs. Agnes Ogungbemi on Saturday in Osogbo.
Benamaisia explained that the accident, which involved a privately owned Nissan Sharon vehicle with the license plate WWD574 AE, resulted from losing control due to excessive speed. This tragic incident, which involved ten individuals, happened near Sasa bridge, at Ogidi village.
”We lost seven persons including three females, one male and three children, while three other persons sustained various degrees of injuries.”
“Three dead victims who are indigenes of Osun were taken to Odeomu by their relatives, while the remaining four dead victims were taken to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, by FRSC rescue team,” Benamaisia said.
According to him, he mentioned that the injured individuals received initial treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The sector commander expressed his appreciation to other security agencies for their collaborative efforts in rescuing the survivors. He also noted that the belongings of the victims found at the accident site were turned over to the police.
Nevertheless, Benamaisia cautioned drivers against disregarding traffic regulations and emphasized that the command would take appropriate legal actions against those who violate the law.
