Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Lungi, Sierra Leone, on Sunday to attend the 69th Summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Heads of State and Government.
Shettima was received at the Sierra Leone International Airport in Lungi by Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr Mohamed Jalloh, alongside Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Sola Enikanolaiye.
Also present to welcome the Vice President were Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Amb. Ayo Luther-Ogbomode; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo; Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Amb. Olawale Awe; and other senior officials.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the summit has drawn Heads of State, government representatives, diplomats and development partners from across the West African sub-region.
The meeting will focus on major regional concerns, including peace and security, economic integration, and sustainable development.
Nigeria’s participation in the summit underscores its continued commitment to regional diplomacy and efforts to deepen cooperation among ECOWAS member states.
