Vice President Kashim Shettima is attending the launch of Nigeria’s Hazard Risk Countrywide Analysis in Abuja, joined by notable guests such as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.

The 2024 Hazard Risk Countrywide Analysis outlines key threats to Nigeria’s socio-economic growth, focusing on security, health, and natural disasters.

Regarding security challenges, the report identifies persistent insecurity as a significant issue. It highlights regions such as Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe in the North-East; Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kaduna in the North-West; and Imo, Enugu, and Ebonyi in the South-East as being particularly affected by security threats.

For natural disasters, the analysis indicates that 80-95% of Nigerian states are vulnerable to flooding.

In the health sector, the report identifies national epidemics, including cholera, measles, meningitis, yellow fever, and Lassa fever.

The research process involved contributions from 400 representatives across various sectors and organizations.
