The visitor struck on six minutes through Wilfred Zaha.
Conor Gallagher had found himself with the ball at his feet in space after a lightning counter attack. He looked and up slid the ball to Wilfried Zaha , who coolly slotted the ball past the keeper from close in.
City’s Aymeric Laporte was given his marching orders with a straight red card on first half added time to compound their woes.
Gabriel Jesus thought he had equalised for City on 60 minutes but VAR ruled out the goal for offside.
Phil Foden had played a terrific cross over to Gabriel Jesus, who found some space inside the box and put the ball into the back of the net, but was disallowed.
Michael Olise was in a good shooting position, but he saw his teammate and passed the ball to him. Gallagher took it nicely and beat the goalkeeper with a precise shot which bounced in off the right post to make the score 2-0.
