Six Dead, five injured in Ibadan auto crash

Six adult males have been confirmed dead in a multiple-vehicle accident involving five vehicles in the Amuloko area of Ona-Ara Local Government Area, Oyo State.

The Oyo State Road Safety Command, in a report signed by Sector Public Education Officer Mayowa Idewo and shared with *Channels Television* on Monday, confirmed the incident. The report stated that six men lost their lives, while five others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The accident occurred early Monday morning at Oke-Elesin, Amuloko, and involved two articulated trucks, a minibus, and two tricycles, all of which were severely damaged. According to eyewitnesses, one of the trucks, carrying tiles, likely experienced brake failure, lost control, and crashed into another truck transporting drinks. The tricycles and minibus were caught in the resulting collision.

Eyewitnesses also confirmed the fatalities, reporting that six people died at the scene of the accident. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to the University College Hospital (UCH) morgue in Ibadan.

The Road Safety Command urged drivers to strictly follow road safety rules and regulations to prevent avoidable accidents and loss of life.

In the aftermath of the crash, security personnel, including members of Operation Burst, OYRTMA, the police, Road Safety officials, Amotekun corps, and local vigilantes, were deployed to manage the traffic caused by the accident, and normalcy has since been restored to the area.
