At least six people were killed in a suspected terror attack in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, according to Israeli police, who confirmed that the two attackers had been “neutralized.”
The attack, described by police as a combined shooting and stabbing assault, took place shortly before Iran launched around 180 missiles at various targets near Tel Aviv.
“Six civilians were killed in a stabbing and shooting terror attack, and nine others sustained varying degrees of injuries,” police said in a statement, citing medical sources.
The attack began when two gunmen targeted passengers on Tel Aviv’s light rail system, then fled on foot before being “neutralized” by police and armed citizens present.
Footage shared online showed victims lying on the streets of Tel Aviv in the aftermath of the assault.
As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
