The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the death of six people in a fatal road accident that occurred on Friday along the Yola-Girei Road.
The command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed in a statement on Friday that preliminary findings showed six persons died in the crash.
“The victims were rushed to a hospital where they were confirmed dead.
“Police operatives from Girei Divisional Headquarters, Federal Housing and the Central Motor Traffic Division were immediately mobilised to the scene to evacuate the victims and restore the normal flow of traffic.”
According to the police, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Hassan, has expressed sympathy with the families of those who lost their lives and prayed for the repose of their souls.
The police commissioner also urged motorists to remain calm, drive responsibly, comply with traffic regulations and avoid excessive speeding to reduce road accidents and prevent further loss of lives.
NewsclickNG learnt that the latest tragedy was the fourth accident recorded on the Yola-Girei Road in less than a month, with more than 10 people reportedly killed in the series of crashes.
