The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union’s Youth Wing has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to establish the Southern Kaduna Development Commission to rebuild, rehabilitate, and resettle approximately two million displaced people in nearly 200 towns.

This was revealed in a statement delivered to journalists in Kaduna State on Wednesday by the group’s National Leader, John Isaac.

The Southern Kaduna Development Commission, according to the union, is crucial and should be supported by peace-loving Nigerians.

While commenting on the general elections in 2023, the organization pledged to support only those candidates who have demonstrated empathy and support for their people during their trials.

It further stated that candidates who have no human sympathies, have no regard for human lives, and have exhibited little or no concern or empathy for the region would be barred from entering the territory.

According to SOKAPU, the region has seen an unparalleled amount of attacks in the last seven years, with hundreds dead and slaughtered in cold blood, properties worth billions of naira damaged, and millions displaced.

“While we appreciate the generosity of some of the aspirants towards ameliorating the living conditions of displaced persons in the state, we will like to call on all aspirants across all political parties to emulate the kind gestures of those who have extended support to the people of Southern Kaduna and Kaduna state at large.”

“We also want to categorically emphasise that more needs to be done in the areas of rehabilitation and reconstruction of sacked communities in Southern Kaduna as the Southern People are passing through untold hardship.”
