According to the sources, the group was stopped while allegedly carrying out arrest operations and presenting themselves as personnel of the “Nigeria Forest Guard.”
Their actions reportedly aroused suspicion, leading the soldiers to step in and conduct preliminary questioning and searches.
During the operation, a round of 9mm ammunition along with other items was reportedly recovered from the suspects. Authorities are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the possession of the ammunition and the group’s claimed affiliation.
The 14 suspects remain in military custody and are expected to face further interrogation and possible legal action.
Security agencies have advised members of the public to remain vigilant and verify the identity of individuals claiming to represent government security organisations.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to safeguarding security in the FCT and ensuring that those involved in impersonation or related criminal activities are brought to justice.
