A South African man known as Grand Dilan has appealed to Nigerians on social media to end the Bolt ride prank that has been causing disruption between the two countries.
In a viral video posted on Tuesday, Grand Dilan was seen kneeling as he expressed his concern over the escalating prank. He reported that many businesses have suffered due to the prank, which began with South Africans ordering Bolt rides in Lagos, Nigeria, only to cancel upon the drivers’ arrival. In response, some Nigerians began ordering rides in Johannesburg and Cape Town from Lagos, only to cancel them as well.
In his latest video, Grand Dilan urged Nigerians to stop the prank, stating that it has gone too far and is harming businesses. He said, “Nigerians, I’m on my knees. I’m begging you to stop this. You’ve taken it to another level. You’ve damaged many businesses back in South Africa. So many apps have been closed. This is getting out of hand. You are destroying people’s livelihoods. You’ve caused millions in damage.”
