The head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has unveiled the final squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The 28-man list features a blend of established players and fresh additions as the team gears up for the tournament kicking off on December 21.

Several names from the initial 54-man provisional list were removed in the final selection.

One of the most notable developments is the exclusion of Maduka Okoye and the decision to retain Stanley Nwabali.

Despite returning to form with Udinese after his suspension over a match-fixing allegation, Okoye had been tipped to reclaim the starting role from Nwabali, who has been dealing with injury concerns.

On Monday, Vusimuzi Vilakazi, head coach of Chippa United, said Nwabali is battling ankle and hand injuries and may be doubtful for AFCON.

Victor Boniface, Tolu Arokodare, and Kelechi Iheanacho were also left out, while Paul Onuachu makes a comeback to the national team after an extended absence.

Ebenezer Akinsanmiro earns his first-ever senior call-up, and regulars like Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon, Calvin Bassey, and Wilfred Ndidi all make the list.

The Super Eagles will face Egypt in a friendly match on December 16, with players set to report to camp a day earlier.

Nigeria is drawn in Group C alongside Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda.

Their opening match is against Tanzania on December 23, followed by Tunisia on December 27, and their final group game against Uganda on December 30.
