The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to resume training following their earlier boycott over unpaid allowances.
On Tuesday, the players and officials of the national team refused to attend their scheduled evening training session, protesting outstanding payments owed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The allowances in question include bonuses for qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2026 World Cup playoff.
However, on Wednesday, Promise Efoghe, the team’s media officer, announced that the dispute had been “resolved.”
He added that the Super Eagles would return to training by 5 p.m., though the details of the agreement reached between the players and the administrators were not disclosed.
In a post on X, team captain William Troost-Ekong confirmed that the matter had been settled and assured fans that the players remain “as before, focused on the games ahead.”
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Gabon on Thursday in the semi-final of the 2026 African World Cup playoff. The winner will go on to meet either Congo DR or Cameroon in the final for a chance to represent Africa at the intercontinental playoff.
