Suspected assailants hack 30-year-old decorator to death

A 30-year-old decorator, Esohe Aigbe, was reportedly killed by suspected attackers in Benin City, Edo State.

Report stated on Friday that the incident happened on May 27 along Ojo Street in the Ogida area of the state capital.

The victim had reportedly visited the area to help decorate a venue for a burial ceremony before she was attacked.

A source familiar with the incident said Aigbe had finished the decoration work but remained at the venue when the assailants struck her with a machete.

“The deceased was attacked with a machete at the venue of the burial where she went to do a decorating job. After the attack, the perpetrators left hurriedly.

”Some good Samaritans rushed to the scene and rushed her to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital where she died due to the deep matchet cut,” the source said.

Reacting to the incident, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed that the police were investigating the case.

“I’m aware of a murder case in the area. We already have one suspect in our custody, and investigation is still ongoing as I speak to you,” she stated.
