The suspended Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon. Wale Adedayo, who was detained by the Department of State Security Services (DSS) since last Friday, has regained his freedom.

Adedayo said that he was summoned by the DSS in response to a petition alleging that he had made inciting statements that could endanger public peace.

The suspended local government chairman told the DSS that he had not made any inciting statements, other than his allegation that local governments had not received any allocation from the state government in the last two years.

He said that he remained unshaken by his recent challenges and that he would challenge what he considered to be his illegal suspension from office last Thursday.

Adedayo said that the letter to report Governor Dapo Abiodun to the former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, was written with the support of other local government chairmen in the state, but he was surprised that they all backed out of the fight for good governance at the grassroots.

Recalled that the suspended chairman had written to a former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, alleging that the current governor of the state, Dapo Abiodun, had misappropriated public funds. He also submitted a petition to anti-corruption agencies with the same allegations.

The Joint Account and Allocation Committee in the state, which is responsible for managing the local government’s federal allocations, has denied the allegation. The committee affirms that every fund approved by it has gone through the different local government accounts.
