Sylva vows to address flooding, coastal erosion in Bayelsa

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the gubernatorial election scheduled for November 11 in Bayelsa, Timipre Sylva, has vowed to address the issues of flooding and coastal erosion in the state should he win the election.

Sylva reaffirmed his commitment on Sunday during his visit to the Obogoro community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa. He was there to assess the ongoing devastation caused by persistent flooding and coastal erosion.

He expressed his concern over the continual erosion of land and the submerging of buildings due to the encroaching rivers, leading to property and livelihood losses.

Sylva pledged to implement robust mitigation measures to alleviate the impact of these recurrent natural disasters affecting communities in Bayelsa.

The APC gubernatorial candidate also highlighted his intention to establish a climate change policy that would function as an effective early warning and response system if he is elected as the governor of Bayelsa.
