Timipre Sylva’s minister of state for petroleum resources, Horatius Egua, has issued an apology to Nigerians and business leaders for a media publication blunder.

Egua had sent a statement to the media on Monday, February 20, 2023, with the headline “Theft, Pipeline Vandalism Responsible For Volumes Of Crude Losses,” which was given credit to the minister.

He pointed out that the statement was a working draft and that because the Minister had not given his approval, it should not have been given to the media for publication.

Egua in the apology stated, “The statement was not in any way released to denigrate the reputation of the head of any agency or government official or to dispute the figures released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission. It was released in error.

“I apologise for any discomfort or inconveniences the statement may have caused by it release,” Egua said.
