The Taraba State Government has dismissed as false and misleading the rumour that it has nominated the current Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly, Hamman-Adama Adamu, as the new Deputy Governor.

Addressing a press briefing, the Commissioner for Information, Zainab Jalingo, clarified that there is no vacancy in the office of the Deputy Governor and affirmed that Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali remains the duly elected Deputy Governor of Taraba State.

She stated, “The attention of the Taraba State Government has been drawn to rumours circulating on social and traditional media, alleging that His Excellency, Governor Agbu Kefas, has nominated Alhaji Hamman Adama as the new Deputy Governor. This claim is completely untrue, malicious, and should be disregarded.”

The commissioner stressed that the Nigerian Constitution provides a clear and formal process for replacing a Deputy Governor, involving legislative and constitutional procedures — none of which have been initiated or considered.

The government urged the public to remain calm and to rely solely on verified information disseminated through official government channels.

She concluded, “The Taraba State Government remains committed to delivering good governance and will not be distracted by baseless speculations.”
