The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has stated that the tax reform bills currently before the National Assembly aim to reduce the burden on Nigerians and safeguard the interests of the less privileged.
This was announced by NOA Director General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
“By supporting this effort, we can create a tax system that works for all and funds the development projects that will improve our nation,” he said.
“Today, we are commencing a nationwide mobilization of Nigerians to unite in our commitment to addressing these pressing issues and fostering a more informed, secure, and ethical society.
Represented by the Ogun State Director of the Agency, Funke Salako, the NOA boss assured that the tax bills will require the cooperation of all Nigerians to make it a success.
“The challenges before us require collective action and active participation from all Nigerians.”
He mentioned that the bills include the Nigeria Tax Bill, the Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill.
Issa-Onilu also noted that the HIV/AIDS campaign, which supports the efforts of relevant health authorities, aligns with World HIV/AIDS Day, observed annually on December 1.
He further revealed that the government has ramped up efforts to offer free and accessible HIV testing and counseling services across the country.
