Terrorists attack Borno Police Station

On Sunday, suspected Boko Haram militants stormed Jakana Police Station in Borno State’s Konduga Local Government Area, murdering a police driver and a woman.

The terrorists also set fire to two police and Civilian Joint Task Force patrol vehicles, as well as a motorbike, while the rampaging militants hauled away some weaponry and ammunition.

Jakana, located 35 kilometres along the Maiduguri-Damaturu Road, has historically served as a route for insurgents.

According to sources in Jakana, the terrorists stormed the police station around 1 a.m. and fought security forces for hours before departing two hours later.

In a phone discussion, Konduga Council Area Chairman Abbas Ali Abari confirmed the tragedy but stated that he did not know the number of casualties as of press time.

“I received a distress call that Boko Haram terrorists stormed the Jakana Police Station last night. I am communicating with the Divisional Police Officer, and I will provide you with the specifics as soon as I have them,” he stated.

Efforts to contact the state’s police spokesman, Kenneth Daso, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this story.
