The love, trust and understanding between
the father and the son has always been so deep and mutual, and when it goes sour, it could be very sad and be a unsavoury situation.

Historically, fathers have been known to have quarrelled with their sons and sons too were known to have gone against their fathers, it could be due to many factors and sometimes caused by Irreconcilable differences on succession, power tussle, inheritance, choice of spouse, religious beliefs and so on.

For instance, the relationship between Prince Phillips and Charles, the son, both of Great Britain, have their own differences, yet, they remain one.

It has become expedient that we add our voices, as students of History and Political Science, to the ongoing crisis between Asiwaju Tinubu and his first political son, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, because we are both ideologically linked to both men. No doubt, they are both unique men, great leaders and fantastic friends. They are like day and night, sun and moon, the synergy between the two is so rare and uncommon. Asiwaju’s benevolence speaks volume across the land, under whose politcal tutelage, Aregbesola has become great asset at d Tinubu College of Political Science, where Asiwaju is the Professor Emeritus of the college, who has on many occasions had cause to go to sleep because Aregbesola was in charge.

There have been political issues, where Asiwaju has come in as a fire and Aregbesola has come in as the wind to cool nerves, and things moved on, the harmony between the two is enviable.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu introduced us to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in far away Ghana, where Prof. Wole Soyinka was given one of the highest grand awards in Africa, the present South Africa President, Cyril Ramaphosa was a recipient too at the event. Several times, we’ve seen Ogbeni defending Asiwaju Tinubu and protecting his interests, we marvelled at this man’s level of loyalty to his political leader. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, we’re opportuned too, to be with and were shocked at the way he relates with Ogbeni Rauf.

When this imbroglio started, myself and my twin brother have been so sad wondering what could have turned an obedient son against his rich dad. No doubt, there are some forces that are benefiting from this present misunderstanding between Asiwaju and Ogbeni. ln  the few months of this imbroglio, we have seen installations of new alliances borne out of falsehood – either for or against Asiwaju or Ogbeni – the outburst and distribution of bittterness have only been expanding the frontiers of local and national rebellion.

We are of the opinion that this crisis should be nipped in the bud before it gets cancerous. Asiwaju Tinubu, being a man of peace and wonderful human being should think and recollect those great moments they both shared together, the valuable lessons of life and investment he has bestowed on Aregbesola and let this hostility ends now .

Ogbeni too should take into serious consideration many factions and groups this imbroglio would set against one another, they should both remember the kind of history generations yet unborn will read about them that, there was once a rich dad and an obedient son that started well but ended woefully.

We are aware of the love and mutual respect between Asiwaju and Prof.Wole Soyinka, the African Nobel Laureate,
we want Prof. Wole SOYINKA, General Alani Akinrinade, Ooni of Ife, Alaafin of Oyo, to call Asiwaju and Ogbeni and broker peace between the rich dad and his obedient son, where both should publicly embrace each other .The Vice President, Professor Yemi Oshibajo in his divine wisdom should reconcile both men so as to rekindle fire of the first love.
