Three dead in Russia explosions
According to the governor of the district that borders Ukraine, a series of “powerful explosions” that shook the city of Belgorod early on Sunday resulted in at least three fatalities and four injuries.
“We are currently trying to establish the circumstances of the incident. The anti-aircraft defences were in operation,” Belgorod Governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on Telegram.
According to the governor, the explosions that happened in the early hours damaged 39 dwellings and 11 residential buildings.
He refrained, though, from blaming Ukrainian forces for the attacks.
Gladkov claimed to have been there just after the explosions, which occurred five streets north of the city’s center.
He stated that while two of the injured, a man and a child, were treated at the site, the other two were transported to a hospital.
Since February 24, when Moscow began its military campaign in Ukraine, Moscow has consistently accused Kiev of carrying out airstrikes on Russian territory, particularly in the Belgorod region.
Gladkov charged Ukraine with using two helicopters to attack a gasoline storage in the city at the start of April.
