Three dead, one injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway accident

The Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun has said a fatal accident at Gofamint in Ogunmakin, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, claimed three lives and left one other person injured on Tuesday night.

The Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, confirmed the accident to newsmen in Abeokuta on Wednesday morning.

Umar said the incident occurred at 10:55 p.m. and it involved a mini truck (Van), marked YYY 457 YY, and a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number DUI 187 FST.

The FRSC boss explained that the accident was caused by excessive speed and route violation on the part of the truck driver which led to a head-on collision.

He said, “A total of six persons were involved which comprises four male and two female adults.

”One person was injured while two women and the driver of the bus died in the accident.”

Umar stated that the injured victim was taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for medical attention, while the deceased were deposited at the FOS morgue, Ipara.

The sector commander advised motorists to drive cautiously and always avoid route violations, especially at night.
