Three escape death in Ojuelegba car crash

Three individuals narrowly escaped a death when a 40-foot container, being transported by a truck, toppled onto a car in the Ojuelegba region of Lagos State on Sunday evening.

The Director of Public Affairs, Adebayo Taofiq, and Enlightenment Department at the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), affirmed that the incident implicated a Toyota Corolla car (with plate number JJJ 811 FB) located at the top of Ojuelegba bridge, heading towards the Stadium.

The distress call was raised at 8:45 p.m., prompting the rapid response of emergency teams from LASTMA and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service. Their prompt intervention successfully saved two male adults and a female adult who were inside the vehicle.

According to a statement from Adeseye Margaret, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the three individuals are currently receiving care at the Lagos State Accident and Trauma Centre. They were provided with initial medical assistance at the accident site.

Upon further verification, it was established that only one of the three individuals extracted from the sedan emerged unscathed and was promptly released.

The other two rescued victims, an adult male and a female, were swiftly transported to a hospital via a LASEMA ambulance.

Reportedly, both the driver and assistant of the truck involved in the accident fled the scene.

In response to the incident, the Ojuelegba bridge was temporarily sealed off, with officers from the Surulere Police Division present to maintain essential security measures.
