An Ogun State High Court in Abeokuta has convicted three individuals to death by hanging for the murders of Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye and their son, Oreoluwa, on New Year’s Day two years ago.

Justice Basirat Adebowale sentenced the trio—Adekanbi Lekan, the deceased’s driver; Odetola Ahmed; and Adeniyi Waheed—after a lengthy trial.

Murder and Arson

The defendants were accused of multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit armed robbery, murder, and arson. They were found guilty of gruesomely murdering the couple and their son before setting their bodies on fire.

Justice Adebowale ruled that the trio’s actions warranted no mercy, given the brutality of the crime.

Lekan was sentenced to death by hanging or lethal injection, while the other two received life imprisonment and lengthy sentences for their roles.

Family Tragedy

The Fatinoyes, who had attended a New Year’s Eve church service, were killed shortly after returning home. Their son, Oreoluwa, and an adopted child were tied up and thrown into the Ogun River.
