Tinubu applauds NSA, security agencies over release of Kuriga schoolchildren

President Bola Tinubu has praised the National Security Agency, Nuhu Ribadu, and additional security agencies for the successful release of the Kuriga school children in Kaduna State.

On March 6, approximately 287 individuals were abducted when armed assailants on motorcycles stormed their school, leading to widespread condemnation from various quarters, including the UN children’s welfare agency UNICEF.

Two weeks following the abduction, security agencies successfully rescued the children. The military announced on Sunday that the victims had been liberated in Zamfara State during the early hours of the day, thanks to collaborative efforts between the troops and local authorities.

Subsequently, the President lauded the endeavors of the security agencies in facilitating the release of the abducted schoolchildren.

“President Bola Tinubu welcomes the news of the release of the Kuriga school children in Kaduna State and emphasizes the importance of collaboration between the federal government and states for expected outcomes, especially on matters of security,” a statement by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale read.

“The President commends the National Security Adviser, the Security Agencies, and the Kaduna State Government for the dispatch and diligence with which they handled this situation, noting that incipient urgency, meticulous attention, and tireless dedication are critical to optimal outcomes in cases of mass abductions.”

The Commander-in-Chief additionally expressed appreciation for “the liberation of students from a Tsangaya school in Sokoto State,” applauding all those involved for their courageous actions.

He reassured Nigerians that his administration is implementing comprehensive strategies to safeguard our schools as secure environments for learning, rather than havens for indiscriminate abductions.
