President Bola Tinubu has approved nationwide free transportation to mark the upcoming Christmas celebrations.

The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, made this announcement while addressing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, presided over by the President, on Monday.

Idris stated that the Federal Government will provide free train services across the country from December 20, 2024, to January 5, 2025.

Additionally, he announced the renaming of the University of Abuja to Yakubu Gowon University.

On the 2025 budget, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, revealed that the cabinet held extensive discussions on the Appropriation Bill.

He expressed optimism that the budget would enhance private sector involvement in the national economy.

The Minister of Information also confirmed that Monday’s FEC meeting would be the last for the year, as the Council will go on recess from December 18, 2024, to January 6, 2025.
