President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday inaugurated the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Technology Innovation Complex at the NIS headquarters in Abuja.
The complex features several advanced facilities, including the Command and Control Centre for regular migration, the NIS Data Centre, the ECOWAS Biometric Card Production Centre, the Interior Data Centre, and a 0.5KW solar power plant.
In her opening remarks, Comptroller General of Immigration, Carol Adepoju Nandap, highlighted the significance of the facility. She stated that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex would enhance the ability to assess the risk levels of individuals entering Nigeria, detect irregular migration patterns, and monitor unmanned borders in remote areas across the country.
She said the facilities are “setting the benchmark to use technology to secure our borders and ensure the security of the nation.”
President Bola Tinubu arrived at the Nigeria Immigration Service headquarters at approximately 12:08 pm for the commissioning of the Technology Innovation Complex. He was welcomed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap.
Also in attendance were the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, as well as heads of various agencies and other dignitaries.
