Tinubu condoles with Iran over President Ebrahim Raisi death

President Bola Tinubu has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the government and citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran following the tragic demise of President Ebrahim Raisi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials in a helicopter accident.

President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over this distressing tragedy, highlighting President Raisi’s unwavering dedication to Iran’s progress and development.

While offering sympathies to the grieving families, President Tinubu, through a statement issued by his spokesperson, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, prayed for Iran’s enduring peace, stability, and prosperity.

On behalf of the Nigerian government and people, President Tinubu assured the Islamic Republic of Nigeria’s unwavering support and solidarity during this time of mourning.

As a reminder, President Raisi tragically passed away on Monday following a helicopter crash in a mountainous area of the country.

Accompanying him on the ill-fated journey was Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who also lost his life in the accident.

Search and rescue teams had been tirelessly combing the region since Sunday afternoon after the helicopter carrying President Raisi, the foreign minister, and other officials was reported missing.

Early Monday, relief workers managed to locate the missing helicopter, with state TV confirming the demise of the president.
