Tinubu congratulates Trump, to strengthen US-Nigeria relations

President Bola Tinubu has warmly congratulated President Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the United States.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Tinubu expressed his eagerness to enhance Nigeria-U.S. relations in light of the complex challenges and opportunities of today’s world.

Donald Trump declared victory on Wednesday, pledging to “heal” the nation as results positioned him to defeat Kamala Harris in a remarkable return to the White House.

President Tinubu says, “Together, we can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens.”

President Tinubu stated that Donald Trump’s victory reflects the trust and confidence the American people have in his leadership, commending them for their commitment to democracy.

He expressed optimism that, with President Trump’s prior experience as the 45th U.S. president from 2017 to 2021, his return to the White House as the 47th president will lead to a period of sincere, mutually beneficial economic and development partnerships between Africa and the United States.

Recognizing the U.S.’s global influence and leadership role, President Tinubu voiced confidence that President Trump will work toward advancing global peace and prosperity.
