President Bola Tinubu has approved a reduction in the cost of kidney dialysis at federal hospitals from ₦50,000 to ₦12,000 per session.
Presidential Adviser on Policy Information, Daniel Bwala, announced the development on Monday via his X handle, noting that the intervention will bring relief to thousands of Nigerians battling kidney-related illnesses.
He confirmed that the subsidy is already in effect at federal hospitals across the six geopolitical zones, including FMC Ebute-Metta, FMC Jabi, UCH Ibadan, FMC Owerri, UMTH Maiduguri, FMC Abeokuta, LUTH Lagos, FMC Azare, UBTH Benin and UCTH Calabar.
Bwala added that more teaching hospitals and medical centres would be included before year-end to expand access nationwide.
He recalled that Tinubu had earlier approved free caesarean sections in federal hospitals, describing both measures as proof of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda to make healthcare affordable.
