President Bola Tinubu, alongside other dignitaries, participated in the wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Abuja.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher Musa, led all service chiefs and heads of various security agencies in participating in the ceremony. This annual program, dedicated to honoring Nigeria’s fallen heroes, featured additional activities like prayers, gun salutes, and the release of pigeons at the National Arcade, Eagle Square, Abuja.
Observers of the ceremony included members of the Federal Executive Council, the diplomatic corps, and various dignitaries.
Throughout the country, state governors and prominent figures conducted various ceremonies to observe the day.
In Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani and Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, along with members of the Kaduna State Executive Council, participated in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium.
A similar commemoration took place in Taraba State, where Governor Kefas Agbu led dignitaries in laying wreaths to honor the fallen heroes at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, the state capital.
Governor Godwin Obaseki inspected a guard of honor at the cenotaph in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, as part of the day’s activities.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State laid wreaths at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos to honor and remember the fallen heroes.
