President Bola Tinubu jets off to New York, USA, to participate in the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) scheduled to take place from September 18 to 26, 2023.
This year’s meeting will focus on, “Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress and Sustainability for All”.
This marks Tinubu’s inaugural attendance at the UNGA since taking office as president in May.
As stated by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale, the President is scheduled to engage in bilateral discussions with a range of world leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden and EU Commission President Von Der Leyen during the summit’s sidelines.
The President is slated to have encounters with Brad Smith, the Global President of Microsoft, and Nick Clegg, the Head of Global Affairs for Meta Technologies. Additionally, he is set to deliver his inaugural national address at the UN headquarters on September 19.
On Wednesday, September 19, the President will deliver a speech to American business leaders at the US Chamber of Commerce and preside over the NASDAQ closing ceremony.
