Tinubu lauds Diaspora Nigerians honoured by Biden

President Bola Tinubu has celebrated six distinguished Diaspora Nigerians recognised by US President Joe Biden among the 400 recipients of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE).

Established by former President Bill Clinton in 1996, this prestigious honour is the highest US government award for early-career scientists and engineers.

This year’s honorees, announced on 14 January 2025, are affiliated with or funded by 14 US government agencies.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended the awardees for their achievements in science, technology, and engineering, highlighting their contributions as proof of Nigerians’ global potential.

Tinubu expressed hopes that their expertise would aid Nigeria’s development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The honourees include Azeez Butali, Ijeoma Opara, Oluwatomi Akindele, Eno Ebong, Oluwasanmi Koyejo, and Abidemi Ajiboye, all of whom have excelled in their respective fields across prestigious US institutions.
