Tinubu launches emblem appeal for 2025 armed forces

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday inaugurated the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem and appeal fund.

Speaking at the launch in the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja, the President praised the Armed Forces for their role as the nation’s frontline defenders, ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria.

He highlighted the patriotic commitment of the Armed Forces to the unity, stability, and progress of the nation, emphasizing that peace and development are unattainable without security.

In his remarks, President Tinubu commended the dedication and sacrifice of the Nigerian Armed Forces in safeguarding the country.

He underscored the importance of creating a safe, secure environment, free from threats and criminal activity, where all citizens can thrive and live peacefully.

The President also expressed that Nigerians owe immense gratitude to the brave troops who have stepped up to protect the nation.

In recognition of the contributions of fallen heroes to national security, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, announced a donation of N500 million on behalf of the Executive.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on behalf of the National Assembly, announced a donation of N200 million.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, also contributed N50 million on behalf of the Service Chiefs and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

The Emblem Appeal launch is held annually in preparation for Armed Forces Remembrance Day, serving as a symbol of the nation’s dedication to honoring its heroes and supporting veterans and their families.
