On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to partake in the 37th regular session of the African Union (AU) assembly of heads of state and government.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, revealed this information in a statement on Wednesday.
He stated that Tinubu will attend high-level discussions with other African leaders to discuss institutional reforms of the African Union, peace and security, thematic concerns like climate change, and the continental body’s aims and modes of participation in the G20.
According to the presidential spokesman, the theme of the year’s summit is ‘‘Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.’’
In his role as the head of the regional organisation, Tinubu will also be present at an extraordinary summit of the heads of state and government of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS).
Other senior government officials and a few ministers will travel with the president.
When the summit is over, he should return to Abuja.
