President Bola Tinubu assured Nigerians of plans to boost food production and reduce inflation on essentials to 15% while strengthening the economy in 2025.

In his New Year address, Tinubu cited positive economic indicators, including lower fuel prices, growing foreign reserves, and a stronger Naira in 2024, as signs of progress.

“Though 2024 was challenging, 2025 offers brighter prospects,” Tinubu said. He promised to intensify reforms to curb inflation, promote local manufacturing, and improve credit access via a National Credit Guarantee Company.

Tinubu also called for national unity, urging cooperation on agricultural and tax reforms. He announced a National Values Charter and a youth-focused conference to promote shared values and inclusivity.

The opposition PDP, however, criticised Tinubu’s leadership, citing unfulfilled promises and pressing issues like insecurity, fuel shortages, and economic hardship. It urged the President to prioritise urgent reforms in 2025.
