President Bola Tinubu has shifted his planned departure for a working visit to France, Kenya and Rwanda.
In a statement issued on Friday, his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had said the president would leave Abuja on Saturday, beginning with France before heading to Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa-France summit.
However, in an update shared on X on Saturday, Onanuga announced that the trip has been moved to Sunday, without stating the reason for the change.
According to the earlier statement, the Africa-France summit, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, will address issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, reforms to global financing structures and climate action.
Tinubu is expected to participate in the summit scheduled for May 11 to May 12 as part of efforts to strengthen strategic ties between Nigeria, African countries and France.
The event, themed “Africa forward: Africa-France partnerships for innovation and growth”, will bring together leaders to discuss economic transformation, climate resilience, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, technological advancement and peacebuilding.
After the summit, the president is expected to travel to Kigali for the Africa CEO forum, slated for May 14 to May 15.
The forum, themed “Scale or Fail”, will assemble private sector leaders, investors and policymakers to explore strategies for accelerating economic growth through regional integration and cross-border investments.
