Bola Tinubu has written to the Nigerian Senate seeking confirmation of the nomination of Joseph Tegbe as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The request was read during plenary on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, following a letter addressed to the chamber.

Citing Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empowers the President to nominate ministers subject to Senate approval, Tinubu urged lawmakers to give the request prompt consideration.

In the same correspondence, the President also sought confirmation of Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State and Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

Tegbe had been nominated last week as Minister of Power, following the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections.

A seasoned fiscal and economic reform expert, Tegbe has over 35 years of experience across the public and private sectors. He previously served as a Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led initiatives in fiscal policy reform, institutional transformation, and governance.

He has also advised government institutions and private organisations on regulatory frameworks, strategic reforms, and investment structuring. Until his nomination, he was Director General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, overseeing efforts to strengthen development ties between Nigeria and China.
